Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about the SET Class Rating and training at Aviators F.I.T.

What is the difference between SET and SEP?

SEP (Single Engine Piston) refers to single-engine piston aircraft such as the Cessna 172 or Cirrus SR22. SET (Single Engine Turbine) refers to single-engine turboprop aircraft such as the TBM, PC-12 or Kodiak. SET aircraft also require the HPA (High Performance Aeroplane) authorization.

Do I need a separate Class Rating for each SET model?

No, the SET Class Rating is valid for all single-engine turboprops. However, you will need differences training or type rating for each model, as the systems and procedures differ depending on the aircraft.

How long does a SET briefing take?

The duration depends on the model and your previous experience. Expect 7-14 days for a full class rating including theory and practice. For differences training between SET models, 2-3 days are often sufficient.

Can I do the training on my own aircraft?

Yes, we offer training on our training aircraft as well as on your own aircraft. Training on your own aircraft has the advantage that you become directly familiar with your specific avionics configuration.

What does a SET Class Rating cost?

The costs vary depending on the model and scope of training. For a complete class rating including theory, practice and examination, you should expect to pay €10,000-15,000. Contact us for an individual offer.
